Petrol prices continued at 3-month low, diesel rates become cheaper today
Diesel prices were slashed by 7-8 paise while petrol prices remained unchanged today across all the major cities in the country.
In Delhi, a litre of petrol is retailed at ₹71.94. Petrol is available at ₹77.6 a litre in Mumbai. Those who are in Kolkata have to pay ₹74.58 for a litre of petrol. A litre of petrol costs ₹74.73 in Chennai.
After today’s revison, diesel is priced at ₹64.70 a litre in Delhi. In Mumbai, a litre of diesel costs ₹67.80. In Kolkata, a litre of diesel is sold at ₹67.02. Diesel can be bought at ₹68.32 a litre in Chennai.
Petrol and diesel rates in India are reviewed on a daily basis. Oil marketing companies revise the fuel prices every day at 6 am. Various factors like international crude oil prices, rupee-US dollar exchange impact the petrol and diesel prices in the country.
Oil prices edged today as China’s coronavirus epidemic had affected oil demand. Brent crude was at $56.99 a barrel, down 33 cents by 0121 GMT after rising 5.2% last week. The rupee declined by 10 paise to 71.47 against the US dollar in opening trade today.
Last week, oil companies sharply hiked the price of non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. A non-subsidised 14.2 kg cylinder will now cost ₹858.50 in New Delhi, ₹896 in Kolkata, ₹829.50 in Mumbai and ₹881 in Chennai.
