Delhi elections: No support for AAP in auto unions this year?

In the previous Delhi elections, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal ran a successful campaign with the help of auto unions by setting up a good example of the surveys conducted at that time and with the help of posters as well. However, things do not seem to be the same in the upcoming Assembly polls.

One of the auto unions member alleged that in October last year, the Delhi government is making false claims by saying that they have made the GPRS installation free of cost.

In the previous Delhi elections, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal ran a successful campaign with the help of auto unions by setting up a good example of the surveys conducted at that time and with the help of posters as well. However, things do not seem to be the same in the upcoming Assembly polls.

This time, the auto drivers, it seems, are in no mood to support any particular political party, as the ‘promises made by AAP weren’t really fulfilled in the past 5 years’.

One of the auto drivers named Rajesh, told India Today TV, “Kejriwal has taken away my bread and butter”. One of the auto union heads, added by saying, “Whatever we used to earn is now taken away by companies like Ola and Uber. At the end of the day, we are left with literally nothing.” The auto unions blamed the CM for allowing cabs from other states to do business in Delhi, which they say affects their daily earnings.

Another reason, they cited, is the cost of installating GPRS system in the auto (Rs 1,350) which the autoowner is bound to pay. One of the auto unions member Kishan alleged that in October last year, the Delhi government is making false claims by saying that they have made the GPRS installation free of cost, which he termed as just another election stunt.

“This is another election stunt by Kejriwal. We know as soon as the elections are over, he will again forget his promises,” Rajendra, another auto driver, added. “We urge Kejriwal to talk to us as it is a very serious concern. We will protest if the government doesn’t take required action.”
