The company pays campus hires an average annual salary of Rs 3.8 lakh. Some 10% of hires, those from IITs and NITs, get Rs 6.5 lakh.
Capgemini India CEO Ashwin Yardi said its Indian operations has the largest pool of certified consultants in new Hana, SAP’s flagship product. “We have 1,800, while our nearest competitor in India is at 500. The focus is on continued skilling. On an average, we are reskilling 60,000-plus employees,” Yardi said.
India, with 1.2 lakh employees, accounts for more than half of the French IT services company’s global strength, and is the largest delivery engine for the firm.
Yardi said the company is betting big on 5G technologies and is building solutions around it. Capgemini is setting up two labs – one in Paris and the other in Mumbai – to capture the opportunities emerging in telecom and industrial IoT. “5G is not just about telecom. It will create a much bigger revolution in the industrial IoT space. 5G will change how services are created around data acquisition and what you can do with it,” he said.
Capgemini has hired Monica Gupta as VP to drive its 5G and communication technologies business. Gupta joins Capgemini from Airtel. It has also hired Maneesh Pant as VP of automotive, mobility and EUC (energy, utilities & chemicals) sector hubs in India. He comes from Honeywell.
There are over 200 VPs in India. Four Indian leaders figure in Capgemini’s 26-member group executive committee (GEC) that sets the company’s strategic direction. They include Yardi, Nive Bhagat, global head of cloud & Infrastructure services, Anirban Bose, global head of financial services, and Aruna Jayanthi, global head of Asia Pacific & Latin America.
On Capgemini’s recent acquisition of French engineering services company Altran, Yardi said the idea is to focus in a big way on ‘intelligent industry’. The two companies combined will have revenues of €17 billion and more than 250,000 employees.
“Altran will accelerate Capgemini’s engineering capacities. Altran is a combination of operational technology and IT which will drive huge data services,” Yardi said. About a third of Altran’s 50,000 employees are based in India.
