The key benchmark indices firmed up in the latter half of the trading session on Tuesday, as global cues were supportive.
The S&P BSE Sensex gained around 250 points at 60,800 level, while the NSE Nifty 50 was seen around the 18,100 level.
All sectors started shifted between gains and losses, with Nifty Metal index gaining the most, over 1 per cent in trade.
Besides, shares of Suven Pharma surged over 1 per cent after global private equity giant Advent International bought 50.1 per cent stake in the company for Rs 6,313 crore.
