According to DCP West Somen Verma, after interrogation, all were handed over to the Gosainganj police. According to ACP Gosainganj Swati Chaudhary, investigation is being done by registering a report against four including Nazima Badruddin on the complaint of the jailer.

The Commerce Ministry on Sunday issued instructions saying that such importer-exporter whose codes have not been updated after January 2005, will be deactivated from the coming October 6. The ministry said that this step is being taken to know the number of genuine traders in the country.

According to the ministry, the Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a kind of business identification number. Without this number issued by the Directorate of Foreign Trade (DGFT), no trader can import or export.

The DGFT, in a directive issued on August 8, had said that all IEC holders are required to electronically update the details included in it in April-June every year. If a trader whose IEC number has not been updated after January 1, 2005, it will be deactivated from October 6.

These traders are being given time till October 5 to update their IEC numbers. However, applications already pending for approval with the local authorities of DGFT will be exempted from this. For reactivation of IEC after 6th October, traders will have to apply online on DGFT website. It will be activated again after the update.
