Mufti said, Taliban forced America to flee. Don’t test our patience. He even said that if the BJP had been there at the time of independence, today Kashmir would not have been in India.
In a program on Saturday, Mehbooba Mufti compared the Taliban, saying, ‘When this dam of tolerance breaks, then you will not be there, you will be destroyed. Look what is happening in the neighborhood (Afghanistan). He also had to go back with a sack and bed from there. There is still a chance for you, just as Vajpayee ji started talks in Kashmir, outside (with Pakistan) and here too, in the same way you should start the process of talks.’

The PDP chief said, in 1947, the then PM Jawaharlal Nehru had promised the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir that the identity of the people would be protected in every way and special status would be given. He said, had the BJP been in government at the time of independence, then Jammu and Kashmir would not have been a part of India.

The PDP chief warned that India is ready to be divided on communal and religious lines if the BJP does not show better understanding. He alleged that the BJP was misusing its agencies to suppress the voice raised in Kashmir.
