The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has allowed foreign nationals residing in India to register on the CoWin portal to get the corona vaccine. This step has been taken to ensure safety from Kovid-19. Foreign nationals have been instructed to use their passport as an identity document for registration on the CoWIN portal.
The Health Ministry has issued a statement regarding this. According to it, ‘India, especially in the big metros, is home to a large number of foreign nationals. These cities have high population density. Due to this, the possibility of spreading Kovid-19 is also high. To counter any possibility of such an incident, it is important that all eligible persons are vaccinated.
“This initiative will ensure the safety of foreign nationals residing in India,” it said. This will also reduce the chances of further transmission of the infection to those who have not been vaccinated in the country. This will stop the virus from spreading.
The government launched the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program on January 16, 2021 in all states and union territories. In the current phase of vaccination, the vaccine is being administered to all citizens of the age of 18 years and above. Till August 9, more than 51 crore vaccine doses have been given across the country.
It took just 85 days for India to reach the 100 million mark in terms of vaccination. In the next 45 days, he had crossed the 20 crore mark. In the next 29 days, it reached 30 crores. It took 24 days for the country to reach from 30 crores to 40 crores. Then on 6th August it took 20 days to cross the 50 crore vaccination mark. One crore vaccine doses were given in the country in less than three days.
