The command of Janata Dal United came in the hands of Lallan Singh.
Bihar’s ruling party Janata Dal United has elected top JDU leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh as the new national president of the party in the national executive meeting held in Delhi on Saturday.
In this meeting chaired by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union Minister RCP Singh has resigned from the post of National President.
Janata Dal United tweeted and wrote, “Many congratulations and best wishes from the JDU family to Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, senior leader of JDU and leader of JDU Parliamentary Party in Lok Sabha, on becoming the National President of JDU.”
JDU leader Sanjay Singh has said, “I express my gratitude to Nitish Kumar for making Lallan Singh ji the new national president of the party. This will benefit the party. This is a good sign for the party’s future. Don’t connect with caste issue. He is a senior Member of Parliament.”
Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, who reached Parliament after winning the Lok Sabha elections from Munger, is counted among the most special people of Nitish Kumar.
Lallan Singh, who had been with Nitish Kumar since the 1980s, had recently come into the limelight when there was a rift in the LJP.
Earlier, the credit for bringing the lone LJP MLA to JDU is also given to Lalan Singh.
JDU is called the party of backward caste Kurmi in Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also belongs to this caste. However, the upper castes have also been voting for JDU in Bihar.
The MY (Muslim-Yadav) equation of Lalu Prasad Yadav was also challenged by Nitish Kumar on the basis of alliance of non-Yadav OBC and upper castes.
Lallan Singh belongs to Bhumihar caste. Earlier, RCP Singh was in command of the party but he has been made the Union Steel Minister in the Modi cabinet. RCP Singh also belongs to the Kurmi caste.

Consolation honor to Lallan Singh?
After becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar for the fourth time, the supreme leader of JDU, Nitish Kumar handed over the command of the party to RCP Singh.
After this, RCP Singh was entrusted with the responsibility of negotiating with the central government before the reshuffle in the cabinet.
In the process of negotiating with the central government, the party was fighting for at least two ministerial posts while talking of “proportional representation”.
There, he had to be satisfied with only one ministerial post and RCP Singh also got this ministerial post.
Earlier, there were speculations about Lallan Singh becoming a minister at the Centre.
But with only one ministerial post, the chances of Lallan Singh becoming a Union minister are over for the time being.
In such a situation, he has been made the national president of the party.
But should this be seen as a political promotion of Lallan Singh?
According to political analysts, it is like a consolation prize for Lalan Singh.
