A woman was stabbed to death on Monday night in Anand Vihar area of Shahdara district. The deceased Neelam (51) was returning home from Delhi Heart Hospital after doing duty. The accused Vedpal (42) was caught on the spot and handed over to the police. In the initial investigation, the police have come to know that Neelam had given a complaint against the accused Vedpal in the Farz Bazar police station. There was a dispute between the two regarding this.
It is suspected that Vedpal has carried out the crime due to this reason. DCP (Shahdara) R. Sathyasundaram said that at around 8:00 pm on Monday night, information was received about the woman being tattooed with a knife on the middle road near Anand Vihar Community Center. The woman was stabbed several times in the stomach. The woman was rushed to the Hedgewar Hospital in an injured condition, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The woman lived with the family in New Sanjay Amar Colony. She used to work as a med in Delhi Heart Hospital. The accused Vedpal drives a rickshaw and lives in Purana Teliwada. There was a dispute between Neelam and Vedpal. Neelam had complained about this at the Farz Bazar police station. Police have taken Neelam’s body in possession and sent it for postmortem. Police is investigating the matter after interrogating the relatives of the deceased. It is learned that the accused Vedpal and Neelam knew each other for many years.
