President Ram Nath Kovind addresses the 19th Annual Convocation of Kashmir University in Srinagar. President Ram Nath Kovind said, today around 3 lakh students are getting degrees. I am impressed by the numbers.

Addressing the convocation, President Ram Nath Kovind said that almost half of the degree holders are women, which is a very good situation. Referring to the daughters who won gold medals, he said that 70% of the gold medal winners are women. The President said that it is a matter of satisfaction and pride that our daughters are ready to perform at the same level as our sons and sometimes even better.

President Kovind said, India had great learning traditions and Kashmir has been home to some of them. A need has been felt to integrate modern education with the rich heritage in a way that helps us better meet the challenges of the 21st century.
The President said that Kashmir University has added more wings to its achievements with the establishment of two Centers of Excellence which are of high importance. One is dedicated to glaciology, and the other to Himalayan biodiversity documenting, bio-prospecting and conservation. He said that I am sure that these two centers of excellence and laboratories of the University of Kashmir will also show the way to the world to meet the climate challenges and nurture nature.
