He told the media that no one pressured him to resign. He himself took this decision so that after the completion of 2 years of the government, someone else can take over as the Chief Minister. He will keep working to bring the BJP back to power in the next election. There was also increasing opposition in the BJP against 78-year-old Yeddyurappa. Many MLAs were openly making rhetoric against him. BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal had said that the party cannot keep Yeddyurappa as the Chief Minister in the next elections. The CM should be someone who can keep the BJP aggressive and alive in the state. State Tourism Minister CP Yogeshwar and MLA Arvind Bellad have also been opposing Yeddyurappa. He was also facing constant internal opposition from former Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda.
