In Pathankot, Punjab, great negligence has come to the fore regarding corona vaccination. In Badhani CHC, the BSc Nursing staff applied the Kovid vaccine on both the arms of a woman. The nursing staff realized their mistake when the woman’s condition deteriorated. After this, the woman was sent home after keeping her under the supervision of doctors for 3 hours, but now the woman has heaviness in her head and is feeling nervous. The family alleges that the nursing staff was busy talking during the vaccination. Whereas, officials said that due to overcrowding, a mistake was made. However, a written explanation has been sought from the staff.

Shikha Devi, 35, a resident of Bungal, reached the Community Health Center to get the vaccine, where the nursing staff on contract applied the Kovishield vaccine on both her arms. Due to the simultaneous administration of both the doses of the vaccine, the woman started getting nervous. On coming to know about this negligence of the staff, there was panic among the staff including the SMO of CHC Badhani. The woman was kept under observation for three hours after the matter was immediately brought to the notice of the health authorities. The woman was sent home after giving medicine.

Ashwini, husband of Shikha, who runs a private school bus, told that his wife had gone to the vaccination camp at CHC Badhani for the first dose. The contractual staff in the camp was busy talking to each other. For this reason, one nurse applied both the doses of Kovishield on one side of his wife and the other nurse on the other arm within 5 to 7 seconds. Ashwini says that he opposed it and complained to the SMO of Badhani CHC.

CHC Badhani SMO Dr. Sunita Sharma says that there was a huge crowd of people in the vaccination camp. Due to this, the B.Sc Nursing staff kept on contract did not get to know about it in the crowd and the woman got both the doses simultaneously. They kept the woman under observation and then sent her home.

The SMO says that after three months, the woman will get an antibiotic test done. If needed, we will apply the vaccine again, otherwise it will not be applied when the report is right. He says that a written explanation has been sought regarding this negligence of B.Sc Nursing staff. At the same time, Civil Surgeon Dr. Harvinder Singh says that the matter has come to my notice. Appropriate action will be taken after gathering information in this regard.
