In the order issued by the district administration, it has been said that the Kovid protocol is not being followed in these markets. Market associations and vendors could not get the general public to follow the rules of Kovid well nor could they control the crowd. Overcrowding in the market can cause rapid corona infection. Therefore, the administration had to go ahead and take a decision to strictly close the market.
It has also been said in the order that if any shopkeeper in the closed area of the market does not follow the instructions, then strict action will be taken against him in violation of the Epidemic Act. However, all shops related to essential services will remain open during this period.
The district administration has also asked the market association to prepare and present a plan related to following the Kovid protocol in the next three. Earlier, Laxmi Nagar market, Lajpat Nagar market and Ghaffar market were also closed for non-compliance of Kovid protocol.
