Dilip Kumar passed away on Wednesday, 7 July at the age of 98. He was admitted to the ICU ward of Hinduja Hospital on June 29 due to breathing problems. In a conversation with ‘The Quint’, Naseeruddin Shah recalled the day when Dilip Kumar’s wife and veteran actress Saira Banu had visited him in the hospital. Naseer says, ‘Saira put her hand on my head and blessed me. He said, ‘Sahib was asking about you.’
‘I wanted to meet Dilip sahib once’

But unfortunately the day I got discharged, Dilip sahib left the world on the same day. Naseeruddin Shah told that he will always regret not being able to have the last glimpse of Dilip Saheb. During the conversation, he also remembers the days spent at Dilip Kumar’s house during his struggle days. He says, ‘I stayed at his house for about a week. He told me that I should go back home and complete my studies. People from a good family should not aspire to become an actor.

One of the best actors of Bollywood, Naseeruddin Shah worked with Dilip Kumar in Subhash Ghai’s film ‘Karma’. Recalling the days of shooting Naseer says, ‘This was the only film in my career, in which I was nervous while acting. Most of the time I was too scared to even go near him. I just used to greet him in the morning on shoots.
