A brutal case of mass murder has come to light in Malda, West Bengal. About four months ago, a youth killed four family members by feeding them sleeping pills and buried them in a room. After that he kept running to hide here and there. The 19-year-old accused was arrested on Saturday. The bodies of accused Asif Mohammad’s father Javed Ali (50), mother Ira Bibi (45), sister Arifa Khatoon (17) and grandmother Aleksan Bibi (75) have been removed and sent for postmortem.

Asif’s elder brother Arif somehow untied the bandage tied on his mouth and after a little scuffle with Asif escaped from there. During these four months, Arif went to many places including Kolkata.

Several lakh rupees and electronic gadgets including a television set, phone, CCTV cameras and a laptop have been recovered from his house. Block Development Officer (BDO) Mamoon Akhtar said that the complainant has also been taken into custody for questioning. According to the BDO, the accused told his neighbors that his father, mother, sister and grandmother had gone to live in their Kolkata flat. Neighbors told that Asif lived alone and did not mix with people and did not allow anyone to enter the house.
