According to the information given by the Law Ministry, six new judges have been appointed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday. An additional judge has also been appointed in the Gauhati High Court, according to a separate notification issued by the Justice Department.
President appoints Robin Phukan as an Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court. He will hold the office for a period of two years.

The notification said that Anil Verma, Arun Kumar Sharma, Satyendra Kumar Singh, Sunita Yadav, Deepak Kumar Agarwal and Rajendra Kumar (Verma) shall be the judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in the same order of seniority. They have been promoted as judges from all judicial services.
According to information available on the website of the Department of Justice, as on June 1, the Madhya Pradesh High Court was functioning with 24 judges and there were 29 vacancies. According to another notification, Robin Phookan has been appointed as an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court. He will have a tenure of two years from the date of assuming office.
