Lucknow: A 21-day-old innocent girl found floating in a wooden box in the Ganges river in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh will be brought up by the Uttar Pradesh government. Taking cognizance of the incident, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the state government will bear the entire cost of the upbringing of the newborn girl ‘Ganga’.

He has directed the officials to maintain the newborn well in the children’s home at government expense. The concerned department, including the DM, should provide full help. CM Yogi has also directed to immediately provide all government assistance including government accommodation to the sailor who saved the newborn. The matter is of Dadri Ghat of Ghazipur Sadar Kotwali area. The sailor heard a child crying. When he saw it, a wooden box was seen flowing in the river. When the sailor took the box out of the river and opened it, a newborn baby was found wrapped in chunari.
There were pictures of gods and goddesses on the box. It also contained the girl’s horoscope, in which her name was Ganga. The sailor took the child to his home. His family wanted to raise the child, but the local people informed the police about the matter. The police took the girl to the Asha Jyoti Kendra.
