Today at 11 am, the Supreme Court will hear the petition for cancellation of class 12th board examination.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will place before the Supreme Court of India on June 17 the evaluation criteria decided to prepare the result of class 12 students. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court was hearing a petition to cancel the class 12th board examination. But the decision to cancel the examination was taken by the board two days before the hearing. Following which, in a hearing held on June 3, the court had ordered CBSE and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) to submit their evaluation plans within two weeks.
Hearing will not be adjourned, the bench had clarified
A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari had also said during the June 3 hearing that there will be no extension of the two-week time limit as many students are awaiting admission in colleges in India and abroad.
The Supreme Court welcomed the historic decision to cancel the board examinations amid the Corona epidemic. But inquired about the evaluation policy to be prepared by the board for releasing the result. The bench said that we are happy to know that the government has decided to cancel the class 12 board examinations. But we want the objective criteria laid down for estimation of marks to be placed before us. The bench will look into the criteria framed for estimation of marks so that any objection, if any, can be dealt with. This is as important as the relief sought by the petitioners seeking cancellation of the board exams.
