Restrictions on Kovid-19 relaxed in 18 districts
The Maharashtra government on Friday eased restrictions on COVID-19 in 18 districts of the state where the infection rate and the number of patients requiring oxygen beds in hospitals have come down. The announcement was made by Disaster Management Minister Vijay Wadettiwar after a meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority on Thursday.
The minister said that restrictions like lockdown were imposed in April to deal with the second wave of the Kovid-19 epidemic. He said that restrictions will now be relaxed in 18 such districts of the state where the infection rate is five per cent or less and 75 per cent beds in hospitals with oxygen facilities are vacant.
The Disaster Management Minister said that Maharashtra will be unlocked at 5 levels i.e. under Level 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Many districts of Maharashtra come under Level 1, so the process of unlocking will be started there.
The 18 districts where restrictions will be relaxed include Aurangabad, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Dhule, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Jalgaon, Jalna, Latur, Nagpur, Nanded, Nashik, Yavatmal, Washim, Wardha, Parbhani and Thane.
Restrictions will be partially relaxed in Mumbai, but the local train service, which is called the lifeline of Mayanagari, will not be opened for the general public for the time being.
