‘I Have a New Digital Family’

19-year-old Dananeer Mobeen who became an overnight sensation after her five-second-video ‘pawri ho rahi hai” went viral across subcontinents. In an exclusive interaction with News18’s Star Talk, the Pakistani student reveals that the video has changed her life in a way that it has added more love, appreciation and a lot of new people to her life. She has come across many new individuals across social media platforms who have now become a new family and calls them her “digital family.” The viral video has already inspired many marketing campaigns, movie stars and many others to come up with their own versions.

When asked about how she felt when the creator of the viral Pawri video, musician Yashraj Mukhate showed her the clip, Dananeer said that she was definitely shocked. She had seen the content creator’s work earlier, and particularly loved the Rasode Mein Kaun Tha rap song. She says it was a happy moment for her as the work Yashraj did with the video and the music was really creative.

Dananeer is a self-admitted fan of Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Asked what would be one question, she would like to ask the Bollywood stars. Dananeer says that she would want to ask King Khan, “How he manages to remain so grounded after achieving everything that he has. He hasn’t lost his touch yet and is as sweet as can be.” To Kareena who she referred to as an icon, Dananeer said that the actress has her charm. She wonders how these stars have come a long way in the industry and remain true to themselves. Not only her, her family is a huge fan of the SRK starrer Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Referring to Kareena’s character in the film, Poo’s style, Dananeer dedicates her own dialogue which has also become iconic. She says, “Ye main hoon, ye kabhi khushi kabhi ghum hai aur tumhe itna sundar lagne ka koi haq nahi hai. How dare you.” When asked if she agrees that her meme has become a confidence building bridger between two countries – India and Pakistan, she says “definitely.” She feels grateful that she could be a pioneer to that. She has seen the love pouring from across the border and she hopes that things get better from here.

Indians have massively loved the video and Dananeer only has love for citizens of her neighbouring country. At a young age of 19, she has seen so much popularity, so would she like to pursue a career in movies? To this she says that it’s early to answer that as she is still exploring the avenue. She still has to discuss things with her family and other considerations are also to be taken note of, she says. However, she says she might consider it in near future.

Talking about herself and her future plans, Dananeer mentions that she got done with her A-levels and has applied to university, which starts from the coming September. It is located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

What can we expect next from her? She says she wants to reiterate that her Pawri video was really random and it was not intentional. Signing off she says that she hasn’t planned anything for her next yet, but she is certain new stuff will be soon up on her blog and her YouTube channel.
